Free Tools to Protect Health as Summer Smog Season BeginsPosted on: May 3, 2011 by admin Poor air quality affects everyone, but some people are particularly sensitive to air pollutants, including children and adults who are active outdoors, and people with respiratory diseases, such as asthma. When air quality is predicted to be unhealthy, EPA and the states will announce an air quality alert for the affected areas. EPA recommends that people in these areas limit strenuous outdoor activity and EPA asks that on these days, residents and businesses take actions that will help reduce air pollution and protect the public health.

First tribal community in the nation adopts international green building codePosted on: April 16, 2011 by admin Kayenta Township, a political subdivision of the Navajo Nation with about 5,000 residents, is located south of Monument Valley. Kayenta has been designated as a growth center of the Navajo Nation and hosts restaurants, shops, hotels and other businesses.

Aiken, SC Receives $320,000 to Protect Health, Reduce GHG EmissionsPosted on: April 15, 2011 by admin The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced today that the city of Aiken, SC will receive $320,000 to develop local strategies to reduce harmful greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and improve people’s health. The city of Aiken is among 22 communities from across the country, including three Indian tribes, receiving almost$8.3 million in grants.
